Raising Your Self-Esteem Doesn’t Have To Be Difficult

Raising your self-esteem doesn’t have to be difficult. Sometimes I hear people blame all their misfortunes on their low self-esteem as if self-esteem is a fatal disease that you cannot escape from once you have it. It is true that low self-esteem is the cause of lots of bad things that happen in the world, but it is not true that it cannot be cured. Your level of self-esteem is not static. Just like it is possible to fall from a high to a low self-esteem it is also possible to climb up to a sky-high self-esteem from having had a really low self-esteem.

Raising your self-esteem is not difficult. All you need is motivation. The reason to why it seems so difficult for some people to strengthen their self-esteem is that motivation is exactly what people with low self-esteem often lack. The process of raising your self-esteem is really easy in itself, but it is finding the motivation to work for it that is difficult for most people. People with low self-esteem have a tendency to give up when they don’t see any results. Raising your self-esteem may take time and you might or might not see any quick results. It is important to keep going even when it seems tough, and to keep your motivation up.

Raising your self-esteem doesn’t have to be time-consuming. You don’t have to spend hours and hours every day on self-esteem exercises that stop you from doing all your other activities. You can continue to live your normal life at the same time as incorporating some self-esteem activities into your daily habits. It is better to work on your self-esteem little by little than to do all the work at once. Transform you life so that everything you do helps you to develop your self-esteem. (Read my other articles to get some ideas of how to turn your daily acitivities into self-esteem exercises. I especially recommend the articles “Raise your self-esteem in 0 minutes per day” and “Turning daily activities into self-esteem exercises”.)

It is easier to raise your self-esteem if you have support. Hire a self-esteem coach or participate in a self-esteem course so that you can meet other people with the same problems and the same goals. You will probably notice that the problems that you were so embarrassed about are shared by almost everyone.

Raising your self-esteem can be fun (and as you know, everything gets easier when you’re having fun!). Play The Self-esteem Game, a board game design to make you raise your self-esteem at the same time as you’re having fun with your friends (see the resource page of my website for more information). Make your daily self-esteem exercises into a game in which you give yourself points. Give yourself treats and do things that you love doing! This is great for your self-esteem!
